Knowledge

The Center will promote ecologically sustainable policies and practices on the Eastern Shore in service to our landscape. We intend to do so in a way that encourages and models good citizenship as articulated in our ESLC Values Statement, encouraging reliability, accountability, transparency, humility, respect, and responsiveness.

We know a capable and well-equipped group of local officials and community leaders can do more for their town than we can alone. We will host events, publish resources and share information through multiple media to equip local leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to change, inspire and improve their communities to be healthier places. We will launch and grow programming including a library of town planning and design resources, our twice-weekly e-news resource (Morning Cup of Planning), our annual planning conference, a series of publications and webinars on better small town planning and development and additional regional meetings to discuss pressing town issues. Ultimately, examples from our community design program and community projects will generate new knowledge to share with community leaders to inspire and support new projects.
