Knowledge
The Center promotes ecologically sustainable policies and practices on the Eastern Shore in service to our landscape. We intend to do so in a way that encourages and models good citizenship as articulated in our ESLC Values Statement, encouraging reliability, accountability, transparency, humility, respect, and responsiveness.
Community Design
Currently many of our communities are struggling to manage the status quo, never mind the resurgence of another development rush. Those caught in the wave of development five years ago are now stuck in an undercurrent of failed real estate ventures and drained town budgets. Others are working hard to keep the pulse of the town alive. Unique to the Shore, our communities are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and an unhealthy Bay.
Community Projects
As we work to support local leaders with knowledge and empower communities, we recognize that sometimes the best lessons are conveyed through example. We will work with communities to implement the trail, park, community garden and open space projects to help them become the type of sustainable, walkable, livable communi¬ties they strive to be. Setting the example by helping establish community assets leaves an unforgettable impact on a town and illustrates what is possible through partnership, innovation and open process.
